June…ish….2011

Who cares what month it is….all I know is it’s warm and sunny and SUMMER! Pant, pant. Yipes and yippppeees! ‘Tis the season to be jolly…oh wait…maybe that’s in December! Now I’m getting all my time zones and doggy seasons all mixed up! All I know for sure is that the sunshine feels absolutely AWESOME…on the body, soul and snout!
It seems every month is a time for feasting around the Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa! I got a keen sense of smell for ….CRAB….around here! Yes, that’s right. It’s time for our local CRAB FEST! Ummmm…lip lickin’ and tongue smackin’ good! Sounds like quite the party! You can even enjoy a few drinks too many as the hotel will be offering a “shuttle home” service to those Haro’s guests who decide to lavish in the Crab Festivities at Haro’s Restaurant! Heck, they’ll even pick you up at home so you won’t have to leave your car at the hotel! Now how much better can it get? What a howl!

It’s also time to get out there on the water! Don’t forget, there are plenty of opportunities around here to go whale watching and boating! So get off that comfy couch and climb aboard with me to discover what kind of splashes we can make together. Heck, I’d be happy if someone just threw a stick out into the water for me to fetch! Don’t forget, I am just a DOG, you know!

Once you’re sun baked and deep fried enough from too much sun, you can stroll into the relaxing rooms at the Haven Spa for a nourishing body wrap, facial or healing massage! Now that’s simply bliss! Can someone please book a doggy Caribbean body wrap for ME?! Oh come on, I work hard….I deserve it!

And when you’re all replenished and ready to party again, come and join us on Thursday nights for some great live music with the HoneyCrooners….did I say that right? Ah…the English language is so confusing sometimes. Think I’ll stick to doggy dialect!

See you out there! Whoof!

May 2011

Hey folks! May is here…like any other month! And it’s time for me to spiel off at the mouth again! I cannot help but begin by telling you that I am still a star – and a most loveable one at that! For those of you who frequent our Georgia Café and hotel lobby lounge area, you may have seen me lately…looking just a tad proud and relaxed as I have been soaking in the love and adoration of so many wonderful children around here! Where have they all come from?! Today, I could have sworn I felt the lights, camera and action in full swing as a group of people crowded around my bed and water bowl to oooo and awe at the scene me and the little toddler girl were creating together. Actually, I’m not really sure who was the shining star in that moment…but as she kissed my face, our movie was definitely a hit! A team effort, I think!

Okay – now that we got ME out of the way, I guess it’s part of my duties here as Ambassador of the Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa to let you all know what’s brewing in May!

Did someone say “food”? My sniffer is working overtime and my genius ears have caught on to the upcoming array of food festivities at Haro’s this Sunday in honor of mothers – EVERYWHERE! Hey! Wait a minute! I know my father is still down south basking in the California sun, but did anyone ever tell me where my mom ended up? If someone could jog my memory, it would be really helpful as I certainly don’t want to end up in the "dog house" with my mom! That wouldn’t be good! Ma, if you’re out there, you’re invited to feast away at the Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch, this Sunday, May 8, officially Mother’s Day, on the human calendar anyway!

And wait Mom! You’re also invited to the wonderful pampering Haven Spa to have your nails done (you can bring my sister if you want as the promo is meant for two to share) and then you can enjoy a sweet lunch in the relaxing sanctuary with a Bento Box and maybe even a dog bone or two…just for YOU!

Seems May is all about food….at the Sidney Pier Hotel! They tell me you can eat a three course meal for just $39. Wow! Thirty-nine dollars…wonder how many meaty dog bones that would get me?!

April with Dave

April 2011

Bark! Bark! Hey, did you know I got accepted for that Guide Dog job that I flunked out in the first time around? Yep…I’m moving back to California! APRIL FOOLS! Howl….and belly laugh! Had you worried, didn’t I? No need! I won’t be leaving any time soon. Besides, all my friends are here and I know the Sidney Pier Hotel would not let me leave quite that easily, especially since I have become a STAR! I just gotta tell ya that I am a celebrity! Yep, that’s right! Homes and Living Magazine featured ME as the star of the Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa for one of CHEK’s new TV shows! Yowza…now I’m impressed! Who could possibly ever let me go...they need me!

Hey, it’s officially Spring! Did you know that April is “Earth Month”? That means everyone needs to try extra special hard to take care of all the living creatures on Earth, and be extra helpful and thoughtful for the environment. Of course, that would include me. So, I see it as your chance to spoil me and make me win your heart!

And whining about spoiling, it’s a great time to spoil and pamper ANYONE you love here at the Haven Spa as you can save money and impress them too! You can even win a beautiful royal Pandora bracelet with 3 charms on it! Of course, it can’t possibly be as “charming” as me! There are some awesome gift certificates, though, and great deals on body treatments, facials and waxing. Huh? Don’t think I’ll take a waxing….I’d like to keep my hair, thank you very much! Anyway, all I’ve been hearing when waddling around the Spa lately is all the hype about some “Royal Wedding”? The only royalty around here is in my attitude!

Apparently, April is also a month for rabbits…huh? Not sure where I heard that, but perhaps there will be a few little bunny critters out there for me to eyeball and have fun with! Wait…did someone say chocolate? April means chocolate, eggs and bright colors? Oh shucks….dogs can’t have chocolate (big sad face). Okay, but maybe you could hire me for that Easter Egg Hunt. I’m great at finding treasures…you know, with my “royalty” background and all!

Here’s one last ditch effort on my part to escape on a spring getaway, as the hotel has extended its “Park n Fly” promo! Oh come on….live a little...(pant, pant)…take me!

March, 2011

Marching into March, that’s me! Yo, I’m still here, howling away those long gone February blues and windy days! Spring is about to spring, right into my happy little jaws, as Haro’s is still my most favorite place! They tell me that all month long, kids can dine for $9.99. This includes any scrumptious meal including a drink and dessert! Wow! I love kids….and they love me. Perhaps this is my time to shine with them! Think they might share their dessert with me? Shhhh, I’m not supposed to beg, it’s not part of my job description here at the Sidney Pier Hotel.

Spring Bark…oh I mean, Break is coming! Oh, I am so excited! Doesn’t that mean all the people with their beautiful dogs will be out walking with the anticipated warmer weather? And maybe there will be more kids outside to play with me. We can bark and be noisy outside! Oh, I can’t wait! And with the Spring Break March Family Package that we’re offering this month, which includes one night stay here, a kid-friendly welcome gift, passes to the Shaw Ocean Discovery Center, and free underground parking all for only $159, I am sure to meet and warmly welcome many new faces and tail wags!

Hey, with Daylight Savings Time just around the corner, that means it’s going to be light longer and get light earlier in the morning too! I think that calls for longer days and longer walks! And I can get my people at home out of bed earlier too and get away with it! Does this mean I get to work longer at the Hotel too? Howl…..what a hoot…more chance to meet the woman of my dreams!

Goodnight….I’m going for a nap and with any luck, I’ll have a very sweet dream….. Zzzzzz

The Month of Love

February, 2011

Okay…so I didn’t get to go to the Caribbean with you last month (whimper…whine). Just wanted you to know you missed out on a whole lot of fun by not taking me along in your suitcase!

In the meantime, I created a bunch of fun and havoc around here while you were away! So my time was not wasted! The only waste I’ve seen around here is the poop scoopers troop! Howl…..laugh, giggle, chuckle, chuckle!

Now that January is done gone, I am hearing people talk of love, hearts, the color red and passion!

I’m all about love and passion…and since I have been touted as a so called “genius”, I shall take this month of February to lap it all up…along with bowlfuls of wonderful water!

Speaking of laps…if anyone is still wanting to do some laps around the waterside track of the Sidney Pier Hotel, I’m still stickin’ to my New
Year’s “wuffalutions”….of burning off those pounds from December’s Christmas festivities! Don’t worry, I don’t like to go too fast as I like to stop and watch the scenery going by, including the hot dawgs in the area! I think I must be lookin’ pretty good as I’ve had a few beautiful out- of -towners look my way lately! I do believe if I just learn to strut my stuff a little more, I could probably have a few babes in my paw. I do come from a top notch blood line, you know?! Oh, I’m just too modest!

Since February is the month of “LOVE”, as the Sidney Pier Hotel’s all important Animal Ambassador, I want to remind you to treat yourself or someone you love to the Spa. I have heard that they just launched a new line and are offering some wonderful healing treatments! Or drag your partner in and spend an hour in the “Couples” room enjoying a wonderful relaxing massage. Hey, is that service included for dogs too? Now I’m getting some ideas on how to win over a beautiful lassie! Howl! I better get to work!

January, 2011
Woof! Happy New Year! I made it through another year, jumped clumsily into 2011 and into a pot of…..hot beefy stew…..oh…shucks, I just woke up and discovered I was having one of my good dreams again! Hot diggedy dawg! I am just a tad sad that all the fun of the kids, excitement of parties and yummy treats and all the attention I’ve been getting will be pretty slim pickings from now on! It’s those amazing chefs in Haro’s kitchen that I blame for my new Christmas puppy belly! Arf! I’m gonna have to do a lot of walkin’ to wear off all those puppy cookies and doggy treats! If any of you wonderful hotel guests want to blow off a few Christmas pounds….and help me out at the same time, we could walk and talk and complain of all the work we now have to do for all the fun we have had over the festive season…ugh!
Everybody around here is talking about something they are calling “New Year’s Resolutions”…..whaaaaa? Doesn’t sound like much fun to me!!!! Can’t we just have Christmas all year round? Whimper…..sigh…..guess not!
So, in the spirit of the “New Year”, I have decided to think about some my own “hound dog woofalutions” ! I made five woofalutions….’cause that’s all I can count to! Here goes nothin’!
1) I will do my best to look YOU in the eye, and instead of mercilessly begging for a bite of your morning glory muffin from Georgia Café, ask you to take me for a walk instead!
2) I should like to brush my teeth and comb my hair and dress up every now and then, for perhaps I could increase the chances of finding a hot dawg! Just because I may be a little wuff around the edges, goodness knows there’s no reason that I don’t have a beauty in my life! Pant pant…pick me…ya me… yo, Suzy…I’m over here!
3) I will try to work harder at the Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa at my 9-5 job. Perhaps then, I will get a raise and more doggy treats too!
4) I will try to like cats more! Apparently, cats make me work for their affection….not sure I can handle that!
5) I will do my best to just keep being the same sweet gentle loveable ME Mascot that I already am! That way, all the guests will keep coming back just to say hello to ME, walk ME, and (howl), the best part…keep bringing their kewl dog friends with them to meet ME! After all, I have made some pretty awesome friends over the years! Keep ‘em coming!
Speaking of “keeping ‘em coming”…I heard, through the dog bone vine, that we are hot onto up islanders, gulf islanders, and anyone who wants to come stay at our hotel, park their wheels and jet set it out to warmer places for their winter vacation. And, get this, you get to leave your wheels here the whole time you’re gone! BOW WOW…now somebody was thinkin’ on that one! I think those humans called it “STAY ‘N PARK” (you know, humans always have to name everything)! But really, it does sound like a “purr”fect plan to me! (see, I’m already getting into having a little respect for cats…I’m trying!)
If you’re headed to warmer places, perhaps you would like to consider stuffing me into your suitcase! I’ll be a good dog, I promise, if you’ll just let me sneak into your luggage….don’t you need a good guard dog anyway? Oh, come on…please?
